Step by step guide to establishing Café Prayer ministry

1. Decide on a suitable location

• Is the layout conducive to what you want to do?

2. Visit the venue a few times

• Buy food/drinks there
• Sit and pray quietly about the venture
• Take a friend and pray for one another.  How does it feel?

3. Approach the manager

• Explain what you want to do
• Give assurance that you won’t cause offence or approach customers - see Honouring the café
• Suggest that your presence may increase their sales
• Offer to meet when the footfall is low in the hope of increasing it for them
• Be respectful – even if the manager’s decision is disappointing.

4. Keep in friendly contact with the manager

• Let them know how your plans are going so they don’t forget all about it!
• Show them your banner and leaflet design
• Be a familiar face - keep popping in to pray and buy coffee

5. Recruit and train a team

• The material available on this website should provide you with the basic training your team will need
• Two suggested timetables for training are available here
• Pray for each other in your chosen Café Prayer location.  Note the distractions so that you will be more prepared when you go live!

6. Prepare materials

• Produce a banner and leaflets.  Either design your own or if you want to make use of our templates please email us: chm@healingmission.org

7. Set the date

• When the time is right, agree a starting date with the manager and your team.

8. Go for it!

• Produce a rota and remind everyone to keep praying.
• Clearly we can't be held responsible for everything that happens as you develop this. But plan and pray and go for it!
